4. Children's Privacy and COPPA Compliance
SkoolMotion is committed to protecting the privacy of children. We comply fully with the Children's Online Privacy Protection Act (COPPA) and applicable state laws regarding the collection, use, and disclosure of personal information from children under the age of 13.
4.1 Our Service Model
Our Service is designed for parents and legal guardians only—not for direct use by children under 13. Parents/guardians create accounts, manage transportation arrangements, and maintain full control over all information related to their children.
- Children under 13 do not create accounts or interact with our Service independently
- All account creation, management, and communication occurs through parent/guardian accounts
- Parents/guardians provide verifiable consent before any child information is collected
4.2 Parental Consent
We obtain verifiable parental consent before collecting, using, or disclosing any personal information about children under 13. This consent is obtained through:
- Account registration process requiring parent/guardian authentication
- Explicit consent checkboxes during child profile creation

Parents/guardians must explicitly agree to our collection and use of their child's information before adding a child to their account.
4.3 Information We Collect About Children
We only collect information about children that is reasonably necessary to provide safe transportation services. This includes:
- Basic Information: Child's first name, age/grade level, and school name
- Transportation Details: Home address, school address, pickup/drop-off locations, and schedule
- Safety Information: Special instructions (e.g., requires car seat, medical considerations), authorized pickup persons
- Ride History: Pickup and drop-off times, assigned drivers, and trip completion status
We do NOT collect:
- Social Security Numbers or government-issued identification from children
- Photos or videos of children (parents may optionally upload a photo for driver identification purposes only)
- Children's contact information (phone numbers, email addresses)
- Children's geolocation data (we track vehicle location, not child location)
- Any information beyond what is necessary to provide transportation services
4.4 How We Use Children's Information
We use children's information solely for the following purposes:
- To provide safe and reliable transportation services
- To communicate pickup/drop-off status to parents/guardians
- To enable driver identification of the correct child
- To verify authorized pickup persons

We do NOT use children's information for marketing, advertising, or any purpose unrelated to providing transportation services.

- Assigned Drivers: Only drivers assigned to transport a specific child receive that child's name, pickup/drop-off locations, and relevant safety instructions
- Authorized Pickup Persons: Information is shared only with individuals explicitly authorized by parents/guardians
- Service Providers: Third parties that help operate our Service (payment processing, SMS notifications, cloud hosting) under strict confidentiality agreements
- Legal Requirements: When required by law or to protect a child's safety in emergency situations
We NEVER:

- Make children's information publicly available
- Share more information than is necessary to provide transportation services
4.6 Parental Rights and Controls
